Halitosis: The Bad Breath You Despise

surfct • May 21, 2018

Halitosis is the technical term for bad breath that just won’t go away, no matter how many mints you eat, how many times you rinse with mouthwash and how many times you scrub your tongue with your toothbrush. If you’re a victim of halitosis, you’re likely inconvenienced in many ways. To help you deal with halitosis, our dentist, Dr. Moumen Almouzayn, would like to tell you all about the problem. The more you know, the better chance you have of eliminating it.

The causes of halitosis include many. Some are cavities, gum disease, infections (in the mouth, nose or throat), dry mouth, smoking, tobacco use and health conditions, like diabetes, gastric reflux and liver or kidney disease. If you suffer from halitosis, it’s best to visit our office when you can. The sooner you come, the sooner our dentist can determine the cause and provide the treatment you need. With his help, you can have the fresh and pristine breath you deserve!

The treatments for halitosis include a proper oral hygiene routine, which should include brushing twice a day and flossing once a day; drinking water throughout the day; chewing sugar-free gum after each meal and snack; cutting back on caffeine; and any dental treatments that can help with the problems causing the bad breath.
